Our infrequent contributor, Lillian Cohen Moore has a new project running, and I am sharing the information in the case that someone wants to support her! Lillian is getting ready to go and collect oral histories of women in the gaming industry, and she still needs some funding to get to GenCon to do the first round of interviews.
I contributed a guest post to talk about the importance of women’s history and the collection of oral histories specifically in service to the documentation of women’s history.
I think I said most of what I feel about that particular subject in the guest post, but I will say this further:
Supporting a history of women in gaming needs to happen. And it needs to happen now because we’re not a minority in gaming anymore. Women are gamers. They play video games, they play tabletop, they play warhammer, and they MAKE games.
It’s time to get the history of women in the gaming industry into the archives, and Lillian is absolutely the right person to do it.
