With the shutdown still looming, I woke up on 4 hours of sleep and turned on my happy music.
My happy music happens to be mostly Broadway Musicals. Which resulted in me parodying a few. And here’s what you get:
I Am Ashamed that Congress Is So Simple:
(to the tune of “I Am Ashamed That Women Are So Simple” by Cole Porter)
I am ashamed that congress is so simple,
To offer war when they should kneel for peace
To seek for power, against the ACA
When they are bound to serve, love, and obey.
Why are their thoughts so selfish, and weak and cruel
Avoiding all the trouble in the world.
Hardening them against our conditions and our hearts
Will not agree with their constituents
So reps, hold your temper, and meekly put
Your vote ‘neath the foot of your country’s hope
In token of which duty if you please
Our country’s ready
Ready
May it do us ease
If there are other musicals you’d like to see me parody for the mockery of our congress, I’ve got a few up my sleeve. For now, satisfy with yourself that a version of a song from Urinetown will join this one shortly.
